- Among the city's oldest churches is San Felipe Neri Church.
- It was administered by Spanish friars, same as other Catholic churches in the Philippines.
- Its facade features a twin bell tower with pyramid roofs and a semicircular arch main entrance flanked by niches.
- During the 1896 Revolution, it served as the site of violent battles between Filipino rebels and Spanish forces for a while.
