The Immaculate Conception Cathedral, located in Barangay Liwanag, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, is both a religious and historical landmark. Established on March 10, 1872, where the first mass in Puerto Princesa was celebrated, it serves as a focal point for the city's large Roman Catholic community.
Originally constructed as a small church, it underwent reconstruction in 1961, preserving its original edifice. It became an apostolic vicariate in 1955, directly subject to the Holy See. The cathedral is noted for its unique angular structure, reminiscent of Gothic architecture found in Medieval Europe, distinguishing it from typical church designs in the Philippines.
