The Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Piat in Cagayan houses the revered 16th-century statue of Our Lady of Piat, affectionately known as the "Mother of Cagayan" and the "Black Virgin Mary" due to her dark brown skin.
Originally constructed in 1623, it was declared a minor basilica by the Vatican in 1999, the first in the region and the fourth in the Philippines.
Adjacent to the church is a museum displaying artifacts related to its history.
